Because apparently he knew nothing else about this place. "A 'heavenly demon'? What even is that?" It sounds like a complicated family tree, if nothing else.
But the rest of it all was easy enough to interpret. He didn't entirely trust Liu Feiyu's behavior, he obviously had some ulterior motive for keeping them away from the capital city. Yet as much as the place sounded tempting, he couldn't deny how unenthused he was to place his life in an unknown lord's hands. Particularly one who might tend toward the tyrannical. He'd had enough of that already.
He was free here, but still vulnerable. "Well, I'll stick with the herd, I suppose." He smiles at Liu Feiyu. "As he said, lead on."
