It moved now in stealth, but the eyes beneath his smooth skin were irrelevant. Just as it saw without eyes, so did he. And there would be others in the stars beyond who saw to the heart of a creature. Once he left this land, he would be forced to mask his presence. He would become ever smaller, more myopic. But it was necessary.
Without another word, he began to walk towards the exit, a heavy, sealed container sliding quietly out of a wall niche to hover behind them. Deeper within the vault, its systems were ordered to die. It would never function again.
