"You can't say that when you made me forget most of my life." He wanted to keep struggling. He wanted to hurt him. And if he didn't, it wasn't that he was learning, he was just smart enough to bide his time. He was resigning himself to what would happen, hoping to just get through it so he could find a chance to escape and get back at the Commandant later.
