He had already felt agony for his failure today. When his pleading had been sufficient to stop the pain for a few wretched moments, he had not sought to deflect blame. He was too loyal for that. 'I deserve this,' he had said. And he did.
But the prisoner deserved everything that would happen to him. "You will be made useful," he snarled, sweeping the prisoner's feet out from under him and pinning him to the floor, reaching for the lock on the collar. "Your mind will belong to him."
